Maker's Story: "Although I have had my shop a couple of years Slumbermonkey Designs has really blossomed since I moved to Dorset. I have always been interested in making and creating and gradually began to experiment with ideas using my own illustrations. I love wildlife, particularly woodland creatures, and my shop reflects this love. I design quirky and whimsical jewellery and design and sell cards and prints all in my unique style. In 2015, due to my husband's job, I relocated to Dorset along with our dog Holly. Our new house has a wonderful studio overlooking our garden where I now work, inspired by everything around me."

I find that when I am drawing, painting or creating anything, I loose myself in it, time passes so nicely when I am creating.

I have two beautiful children, and instead of going back to my old job of teaching primary school children, I decided to create my very own collection of cards, prints, paintings, cushions, bunting and scooter/ bike ribbons. It all fits well around my children, who I can spend lots of time with too, and not miss out on those special times as they grow up.

We all love creating, and sometimes my daughter (who is 4) and I paint together, and she sometimes comes and helps me choose ribbons for my cushions too. It's lovely!

So what you see in my Etsy shop is my collection of creations, I hope you like having a browse, and maybe see something you would like for yourself or some one special. Either way, I hope it makes you as happy as it makes me making it all!

Sand and Seagulls was formed in July 2013 by Zoe and Ash Payne. We have lived by the seaside all our lives and so have a real love of the beach. So much so, in August 2010 when we got married we had a seaside themed wedding with all things beachy from a VW camper to a fish & chips evening buffet!

When Rudy, our gorgeous son, came along in December 2012 this gave Zoe the opportunity and idea (in-between naps and nappy changes!) to get creative again. In the evenings after work Ash learnt how to make a website, so we put our new found skills together and created Sand and Seagulls.

Why Sand and Seagulls? – Because they’re the things we love about the seaside, and Rudy shares this too as he loves to watch the seagulls!

Gift Guide - Sellers for the Dorset Team Christmas Fair

Our gift guide this week is a sneak preview of some of the items by stallholders at the Dorset Team Christmas Fair.

There is something for every taste and budget with items ranging from DIY craft kits to home furnishings and from jewellery to art work.

All of Angies  candles are made to order and are dye, phthalate and additive free, and nothing is tested on animals. 

Angie only use Cotton wicks which burn cleanly and evenly. 

Angie sources beautiful vintage china and glass and fills it with natural Eco SoyWax and the finest fragrance or essential oils giving gorgeous scents and creating lovely individual candles. 

When your candle burns down to the bottom you can simply wash it in warm soapy water, leaving you with a unique vessel to treasure and re-use.

Bulk orders can be supplied for weddings and special events.

Maker's Story: 
Handmade from the bottom of my garden...I started my Etsy shop following encouragement from my friends and family. I have always made things for myself and my home, filling it with my unusual handmade items. I enjoy drawing, painting, sewing, knitting and more recently sculpture. When coming to see me, my friends would joke that they were visiting my 'shop' and couldn't wait to see the newest additions I had created. They would always ask if items were for sale or if they could place an order.

My handbags were inspired following a visit to a local boutique. They were selling quite bland and plain knitted bags and I just knew I could do better. Each bag is hand-knitted and embellished with a design using felt, wool and buttons. No two bags are the same, making each one unique. As well as using re-cycled handles from charity shop finds I have also made my own, using Denim, Corduroy and Tweed fabrics.

                   

After spending years creating with fabric and wool, I decided to turn my hand to something completely different and am now sculpting in wire. I bought a roll of chicken wire, spent an afternoon experimenting and as a result, my first Indian Runner duck was conceived! A couple of pairs of leather gloves later and numerous scratches (it doesn't take any prisoners!) my menagerie has expanded. I am so pleased with how effective the result is and after creating ducks, ducklings and chickens I have expanded my collection to include other British wildlife. Buy and Collect at the Dorset Team Christmas Fair

 The Dorset Team are very excited to announce that this year at the Dorset Team Christmas Fair we will be offering a Buy and Collect service so you can purchase items in advance of the fair and pick them up on the day.

This means you can:

- Shop from the comfort of your living room

- Spend more time planning what gifts to buy from who

- Get your Christmas shopping done early and spread the cost

- Make sure the item you have your eye on doesn't sell out before you get to the event!

- Save on postage

How does it work?

Please find below the list of sellers who will be taking part in the Buy and Collect promotion

Once you have found an item that you would like to purchase, just add the item to your shopping basket on Etsy. At the checkout you have the option to add a coupon code. Type DORSETTEAMCOLLECT into this box and it will automatically remove the postage costs for you. If you are purchasing from multiple sellers in one transaction you will need to use the code for each shop.

Complete your purchase and then on Saturday 3rd December visit the Dorset Team Christmas Fair at the Allendale Centre in Wimborne to collect your item from the stallholder who will have it ready and waiting for you. You can collect anytime between 10am - 4pm.
