Dorset Team News - May 2019

Happy May everyone!

Hope you have all been enjoying the warmer weather, blue skies and sunshine!

Thank you for everyone’s continued support of the team and it has been great to see lots of new members joining us too. Lot of members reached big milestones in their Etsy shops in April from starting their shop, making their first sale to members who have recently hit big sales milestones. Congratulations everyone!

This month we have a busy month ahead for the team with lots going on.

DORSET TEAM SPRING FAIR

This Saturday (Saturday 4th May) we have our Dorset Team Spring Fair 2019 at the Allendale Centre in Wimborne. We have 60 stalls by Dorset Team members all under one roof!

If you are free that day, please do head down to the fair, it is going to be a fantastic day out and great way to support local independent makers and sellers and see what the team is all about. There will also be a small stand with some more information about the Dorset Team and joining us. (Can’t make the fair ? DORSET TEAM SUMMER SWAP

Think secret santa but in the summer time…! The Dorset Team Summer Swap is now open and looking for people to sign up to join in. It is good fun and a lovely way to get to know other team members. DORSET TEAM MEET UP

PINTEREST BOARD

We now have a newly revamped Pinterest account for the Dorset Team. Lots of the older boards have been combined to make bigger boards which are full of products by Dorset Team members. A huge thank you to Lyn, Jenni, Louise, Alison and everyone else who volunteers to help keep the pinterest page fresh and regularly updated.

Did you know the Dorset Team have a searchable list of products by team members?! What a fantastic resource this is. Thank you to Lynn for keeping this updated, this is no easy task as it has to be done manually each time. Featured Seller - Sarah Appleton

Sarah is based in Bournemouth and makes hand drawn badges featuring her illustrative animal characters and hand printed greetings cards and has been running her Etsy shop since 2017.
She graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth with a Textiles degree.

Featured Seller - Maxine from Simply Love Art Studio

This week our featured Dorset Team seller is Maxine from Simply Love Art Studio

Maxine lives in Wimborne Minster with her husband (also called Max!) and their two tuxedo cats and sells unique, fun, affordable art for your home, workspace and also by commission.

Maxine says "my mantra is 'For Art as Original as You'; I want people's homes and workspaces to be an extension of their personality, one that tells their story."

Things you should know about Maxine in her own words...

1. I think in post-it notes. My studio is always covered in neon squares full of scribbles and doodles that I'm constantly moving around as ideas evolve. The great thing is that once a plan emerges I staple the post-its into my diary - cue instant 'to do' list !

2. I love gymnastics and go to an adult gym class every week. Not only is it good to get away from my desk and get active but its also a great mental workout as you push beyond your comfort zone.

3. I'm not good at sitting still, so aside from creating art I love to sew, knit and crochet. Always making, always creating =)

Date for your diary: Dorset Team Spring Fair 2018

The Dorset Team will be heading to Wimborne on Saturday 5th may 2018 for their Dorset Team Spring Fair.

It is going to be a fantastic day with 60+ local designer-makers, vintage sellers and craft suppliers selling at the event and a great way to 'shop small', meet local creatives in person and pick up some unique items and gifts.

There will be something for everyone and every budget and a huge range of different products on display.

Dorset Team Christmas Fair 2017 - Stallholders announced

Happy June everyone! With all the beautiful weather that we have been having recently, Christmas couldn't feel further away but preparations and planning is in full swing here at the Dorset Team as we are planning ahead for our annual Dorset Team Christmas Fair.

We are very excited to be able to announce our stallholders for the 2017 event. Thank you so much to everyone who applied to be a stallholder this year. Competition for spaces was particularly fierce this year and we received the highest number of applications ever! A huge congratulations to everyone who was successful in getting a space.

This year we will again have a fantastic selection of local makers and sellers. There will be everything from illustrations by local artists to vintage products and from crafting kits to handmade jewellery.
