Product Feature - Dinosaur Card by Deepali from Dee's Handcrafted
Our featured product this week is this adorable dinosaur card by Dorset team member Deepali from Dee's handcrafted.
Dee is based in Dorchester and loves paper crafting!
Dee says "Like most of the crafters I also started with a shoe box and now I have my own craft room. I love spending time there. Even when I don't have any orders to do, I just sit there and look at pretty papers and inks and will have a little play, it's very therapeutic for me. "

Be an Expert - Planning for 2016
We know you are all really busy with the run up to Christmas but if there is a spare minute why not start thinking about what you would like to achieve in 2016. Perhaps a goal for your shop that you would like to set or something new that you would like to learn.
Has been exciting to hear lots of you talking about 'relaunching' your shops in the New Year, bring out new products and expanding into new ventures!

Dorset Team Christmas Fair in Wimborne is TOMORROW!
Can't believe that tomorrow is the big day!
If you are looking to do some Christmas shopping this weekend why not head down to our Dorset Team Christmas Fair at the Wimborne Allendale Centre
There will be 70+ local designer-makers, vintage sellers and craft suppliers selling at the fair.
This is a fantastic way to support local sellers in the run up to Christmas and also buy some really unique Christmas gifts.
There will be something for everyone, from snap-on spanner bracelets to cushions and from wire sculptures to soaps.
Our fair is officially supported by Etsy U.K and there will be some Etsy goodies up for grabs at the fair!

Be an Expert - Selling face to face
Our Christmas Fair is fast approaching so team member Lynn has put together this fantastic advice on selling face to face at craft fairs in the runup to our Xmas Fair.
'People buy things from people they like.' So help them to like you! Smile, be friendly but not overwhelming, let your enthusiasm and expertise for your chosen craft and your products shine through.
Don't waste time justifying your prices and NEVER apologise for them. Focus instead on the unique selling points that your products have. Tell people about the skill and work that goes into product X, or what your other customers really like about product Y.
Stay positive. Hard to do, especially when you have done your best with preparation, products and layout and STILL nothing is selling. Switch to treating the event as an advertising opportunity. Talk to people, hand out business cards and flyers, ask for feedback, ask what they'd like to see on your stall next time they come to a Dorset Team fair.
And yes, this is a Team fair, so be Team-minded. If you don't have exactly what a customer is looking for then perhaps another Team member might? Refer, recommend, suggest. At this particular event the other stallholders are your community rather than your competition - a sale for the Team is still a sale for a local small business rather than a chain store or website. Tell customers about Dorset Team, who we are and what we do. Help out other stallholders by keeping an eye on their stall for them if they need a break. We're all in this together!

Featured Product: Light box by Ruth from Satis House Five

Today's featured product is this beautiful light box made by Ruth from Satis House Five.
Ruth sells crafting supplies, jewellery and light boxes such as this one of Carnegie Hall in New York. Her light boxes are made from original magic lantern slides which stopped being made in the 1950s.
Ruth will be selling her beautiful wares at the Dorset Team Christmas Fair next weekend. Ruth's light boxes make really fantastic gifts. They are so unique and each light box has a different vintage slide. These look amazing as Christmas decorations to put in the window.

With Christmas fast approaching it is a fantastic time to start thinking about your business cards. Business cards are a great way to get the word out about your Etsy shop and remind people where to find you. It is a good idea to keep a stash of business cards on you wherever you go as you never know when you might need them!
